How Adrenal Fatigue Affects You- An Interview with Dr. James Wilson
We recently had the privilege to sit down with Dr. James Wilson, author of “Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome”, and discuss with him the causes and affects of adrenal stress. Dr. Wilson has been working for years to “help people, help themselves” by overcoming fatigue, and begin a stress free lifestyle. 80 percent of Dr. Wilson’s patient’s have struggled with this unbearable problem, which encouraged Wilson to spread the word about how this problem can be solved.
“[People are] constantly hammering their adrenals with stress….maybe stresses they are [not] even aware of.” Dr. Wilson explains that sometimes people have no knowledge of the stress their body is undergoing. For example, when we miss meals, or do not get enough sleep, that can cause the body to endure unbalanced amounts of stress. “As the stress rises the adrenal hormones rise to protect, [when] they start to become overwhelmed [that] person starts to feel tired.” As Dr. Wilson continues to enlighten us about the causes of stress and tiredness, we learn that, even with a full eight hours of sleep at night, we still wake up feeling exhausted because our body cannot secrete the amount of hormones needed to protect the adrenal glands.
*Tip- Junk food, poor sleep habits, and behavioral disorders can cause stress and adrenal fatigue.
“Cortisol is your friend.” Dr. James Wilson shares with us, cortisol is very beneficial to our bodies, just as long as it doesn’t get too high or too low. “Without cortisol you cannot maintain good blood sugar.” As a person becomes more active and under more stress, they need more blood glucose to make “ATP” which is the energy inside the cell that allows us to handle the stress. If the cortisol drops, and the adrenal glands cannot “rise to the occasion” that causes the person to become more impaired throughout the day. Simple activities like getting dressed in the morning, or going for a walk, becomes too challenging. “Focus is more difficult, attention span is more difficult, fast decisions are more difficult.” Low levels of cortisol can ultimately make you bed ridden if not taken care of properly.
*Tip- Ingesting large amounts of caffeine such as soda, or coffee can cause drained adrenals.
Referring back to Dr. Wilson’s book, “Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome”, he thoroughly expresses what you can do to treat adrenal fatigue in further detail. Also, Dr. James has developed an all-natural, dairy free, gluten free, soy free, and corn free supplement called “Adrenal Rebuilder” which works to promote and support optimal structure and function in the adrenals. This product has been used by many people all over the world, who have received incredible, mind-blowing results.
*Tip- If the cortisol is too high, it could suppress serotonin.
As we finished up our informed talk with Dr. James Wilson, he filled us in about the importance of taking care of your adrenals. It’s not enough to get the recommended eight hours of sleep every night. We must take precautionary measures to ensure our health. It is Dr. Wilson’s goal to make the average person feel more awake and alive throughout the day, and mostly to get rid of all the adrenal fatigue that most people have been living their whole lives with.
