#1 Astragalus

Astragalus root has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to strengthen the body against disease. It’s highly energizing due to its adaptogenic properties (adaptogens help protect your body from the damaging effects of disease; and of physical, mental and emotional stress). Adaptogens such as astragalus also help to promote internal homeostasis, which is a balanced state that fosters optimal health. Astragalus is a potent source of antioxidants and polysaccharides, and it has antiaging and mild diuretic properties. It helps boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, and promote cardiovascular and liver health. Finally, it helps your body metabolize the estrogen metabolite—estradiol. This is beneficial because too much estradiol increases the risk for heart attacks, stroke, blood clots, breast and ovarian cancer; gallbladder disease and dementia.

#2 Panax Ginseng

Panax ginseng is one of the most highly regarded of herbal medicines in the Orient, where it has gained an almost magical reputation for being ‘all-healing.’ It has adaptogenic properties, helps promote optimal health and vigor, increases energy and endurance, boosts sexual performance, improves digestion, encourages proper hormonal functions, improves joint health, and increases resistance to disease. It contains a range of natural compounds called ginsenosides that help lower blood sugar levels, improve memory, focus and mental alertness; relax the nervous system, improves nerve growth, and may reduce the risk for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Ginseng also contains polysaccharides which help to boost the immune system and ward off colds and flu. According to preliminary research, ginseng may help stop the growth of tumors and reduce the risk for lung, liver, pancreatic, ovarian and stomach cancer.

#3 Turmeric

Turmeric is widely used in Indian cuisine (giving curries its deep yellow color), and it has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine. It is a potent antioxidant, and it helps fight inflammation, and viral and bacterial infections. It also helps promote optimal digestion, alleviate gas and bloating, and relieve the symptoms of ulcerative colitis. It may help reduce the risk for neurodegenerative conditions (thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and circulatory effects); and help alleviate arthritic pain. It may also lower heart disease risk by preventing plaque build-up and blood clots, and lowering cholesterol. According to multiple research studies, turmeric may also prevent, control or even kill several types of cancer (including breast, colon and prostate cancer), by stopping the growth of the blood vessels that supply cancerous tumors with the nutrients needed to grow.

#4 Pomegranate Extract

Pomegranate is a nutrient dense superfood, rich in polyphenols, tannins, and anthocyanins—which are all highly beneficial antioxidants. The antioxidants in pomegranate help to protect from disease and slow down the aging process by scavenging free radicals and preventing them from destroying your cells and DNA. Pomegranate is also a potent source of vitamin C and it has antiviral and antibacterial properties; all of which help to support the immune system and fight colds and flu. Pomegranate extract contains compounds called punicalagins which benefit arterial health by virtue of their ability to regulate healthy endothelial function. Finally, it may lower the risk for heart disease by fighting inflammation, reducing systolic blood pressure, and preventing the build-up of plaque in the artery walls.

#5 Wasabi Root Powder

Although wasabi root has only recently been recognised medicinally in the West, it has been used therapeutically in Asia for centuries. It is touted in TCM for its ability to kill harmful foodborne bacteria, reduce diarrhea, lower blood pressure, improve bone strength, gut health and liver function; fight viruses, bacteria and fungi; detoxify the body, and stimulate the immune system (although not all of these uses have been clinically proven). Wasabi contains 3 unique compounds that aren’t found in any other vegetable, and they are collectively called ‘long chain methyl Isothiocyanates,’ or MITC. These compounds have a powerful anti-cancer effect, helping to combat carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals) by neutralizing and stimulating the excretion of them. MITC also appears to help stop the growth and spread of cancer cells and tumours, without harming the healthy cells. Preliminary research suggests wasabi root may be especially beneficial for melanoma and breast cancer patients.

#6 DIM and I3C

Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), is a compound found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, turnip, mustard, Bok choy, and kale. Diindolylmethane (DIM) is produced naturally, when the body breaks down I3C. DIM and I3C promote the metabolism of harmful estrogens and help shift the production of estrogen metabolites away from the harmful ‘16-hydroxy’ type, and encourage the production of the beneficial ‘2-hydroxy’ metabolites instead. Due to this effects, DIM and I3C help restore a healthy hormonal balance and may help prevent the development of estrogen-enhanced cancers, including breast, endometrial, and cervical cancers. While estrogen increases the growth and survival of tumors, I3C has been found to cause growth arrest and increased apoptosis (programmed cancer cell death). Another major benefit of I3C and DIM is that they help to prevent and reverse estrogen dominance. Estrogen dominance is an increasingly common, underdiagnosed condition that causes a myriad of symptoms including: acne, bloating, mood swings, excess belly fat, menstrual irregularity, sexual dysfunction and fibroids.

#7 Cordyceps

Cordyceps sinensis, or Dong Chong Cao, is a powerful antioxidant and a staple medicine with a long history of use in China. It is a rare combination of a caterpillar and a black, blade-shaped fungus, and it’s found primarily in the high altitudes of the Tibetan plateau. It was traditionally used as a general health tonic to promote longevity and enhance energy, appetite, libido, endurance, exercise tolerance, stamina, vigor and vitality. Scientists in China, Japan and the U. S. indicate that cordyceps have a positive affect on several human body systems including the circulatory, respiratory, and immune systems, as well as the liver, kidneys, and sex organs. Preliminary research suggests it may help prevent and reverse cancer by modulating the immune system and stopping the growth of several kinds of tumor cells.  Cordyceps also reduce inflammation, and increase cellular energy production and oxygen uptake. Cordyceps help to boost testosterone levels, thereby enhancing reproductive health and sexual function, and they may be beneficial for the treatment of diabetes, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, liver disease, and autoimmune diseases. Emerging evidence suggests cordyceps may also help reduce the risk for atherosclerosis, kidney disease and cardiovascular disease.

# 8 Phosphatidylcholine

Phosphatidyl choline (PC) is a natural compound found in foods such as egg yolks, soybeans, grains, legumes and nutritional yeast. It is also found in the body, but it declines with age. It helps the body to breakdown fats, and to regulate blood pressure. It may help promote arterial, liver and gallbladder health by preventing fatty build-ups inside of these organs. It also builds-up cellular membranes and the choline helps form a protective coating around your brain and nerve cells, thereby aiding in memory and the maintenance of cognitive capabilities. PC also crosses the blood-brain barrier where it synthesizes important neurotransmitters (chemicals that communicate information throughout the brain and body). Alternative medicine practitioners prescribe PC for the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver damage, atherosclerosis, ulcerative colitis, gallstones, hepatitis, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, memory loss, nerve degeneration and depression. Although most phosphatidyl choline (PC) is derived from soy, which is high allergenic, the PC used in our supplements is derived from sunflower seeds, making it hypoallergenic and GMO-free

#9 RNA/DNA

Ribonucleic acid (RNA), and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), are nucleic acids (large, organic molecules) that are present in all living cells and essential for life. They both carry genetic information, control gene expression, and play an integral role in the production of proteins and replication of cells. RNA-DNA supplements may hold the secret to a longer, healthier life due to their ability to maintain the length of telomeres. Telomeres are the tips at the end of each strand of DNA, that protect the chromones from damage and deterioration (sort of like the protective plastic ends of shoelaces). By protecting chromosomes, they help to maintain the integrity of cells and DNA, and delay the onset of cellular degeneration; all of which helps to counteract the effects of aging. According to preliminary research, supplemental RND/DNA may help boost energy, enhance stamina and muscle mass (due to their role in protein synthesis); reduce pain and stiffness in the joints; and enhance memory, concentration and vitality. RNA/DNA may also protect the body from damaging radiation; boost immunity, enhance wound healing, fight infections, reduce the risk for chronic disease, and enhance overall health and longevity.

#10 Stevia

Stevia is an all-natural, calorie-free sugar substitute, extracted from the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It is 200 times sweeter than sugar, and unlike sugar and most sweeteners on the market today, it is safe and non-toxic. The consumption of sugar not only contributes to inflammation and weight gain, it also raises blood sugar levels, which can cause a range of troublesome symptoms including: increased thirst, hunger, and urination; headaches, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, constipation or diarrhea, blurred vision, and/or irritability. Stevia, on the other hand, has no effect on blood sugar in small doses, and appears to lower blood sugar and improve glucose tolerance in higher doses (making it potentially beneficial for diabetics). Stevia also appears to have anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-diarrheal, diuretic, and blood pressure lowering properties. We use organic certified stevia in our powdered products to help enhance the flavor safely and naturally.
