The Revolutionary New Therapy for Reversing Autism and Chronic Disease

Our current healthcare (or ‘sick care’) system does not work! Americans spend more money on healthcare than any other country and yet we suffer with a shorter life expectancy and a greater prevalence of chronic conditions. Fortunately, there is a revolutionary new therapy that holds great promise for the prevention of disease and the treatment of many chronic health disorders including: autism, ADD, ADHD, migraines, bipolar disease, depression, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration and cancer to name a few. Read-on to discover what this new therapy is, and how it can positively transform the health of you and your family.

Improper Methylation: The Root of Disease

Thanks to a 4-billion-dollar investigation into the human genetic code (titled ‘the Human Genome Project’), the concept of Genetic Enzymatic Methylation Syndrome, or GEMS, has been brought to the attention of leading health experts and scientists. Without getting too scientific, methylation is the term used to describe the process where a methyl group (3 hydrogen atoms bonded to one carbon atom), is added to another molecule. It is a biochemical process that acts as an on-off switch inside your body, and it’s involved in almost every single bodily function, including: brain function, neurotransmitter production, energy production, detoxification, the stress response, inflammation, genetic expression (turns genes on and off), cellular and DNA repair, free radical neutralization and the immune response. GEMS is basically the concept that genetic errors can cause abnormal methylation, which compromises one or all of the above processes, and leads to disease in genetically predisposed patients. “The list of illnesses related to the methylation pathways is long because the methylation pathway is so crucial for normal genetic and cellular function”, says GEMS expert Dr. Rozakis.”In fact, insufficient methylation is the most common finding in all cancers. When evaluating a patient, if there is a positive family history of any of the conditions mentioned (in the introductory paragraph), it is highly likely the patient has GEMS.”

GEMS and Autism

Autism spectrum is used to describe the wide range of symptoms, skills, and levels of disability among autistic individuals; it encompasses Asperger’s syndrome, mild autism and severe autism. Emerging research suggests that impaired methylation is present throughout the entire autism spectrum, and it is also likely at play with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Researchers have discovered that children with autism have a tremendous amount of methylation pathway disturbances, and when those disturbances are treated clinically (with epigenetic therapy), the symptoms vastly improve. It’s important to note that proper methylation is not a stand alone treatment however. Epigenetic therapy should also include nutraceutical supplements, the identification and elimination of problematic foods, inflammation and free radical reduction; and when necessary, hormone balancing – all of these combined will provide the greatest reduction of symptoms.

Finally, proper methylation is also imperative for mothers-to- be, because a methylation disturbance may markedly increase the risk for giving birth to an autistic child.

Who Should Optimize Methylation

Optimizing methylation is beneficial for the prevention of autoimmune diseases and for almost everyone who suffers with chronic pain, inflammation, or disease. In addition to autism, methylation may be especially beneficial for the reduction of chronic aches and pains and migraines; and for chronic fatigue syndrome; inflammatory disorders such as IBS, and rheumatoid arthritis; and as an adjunctive therapy for cancer patients. More research needs to be done, but it may also benefit those with insomnia because methylation is intimately involved in the creation and breakdown of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin.

*Lupus is one of the rare exceptions where methylation optimization isn’t beneficial and lupus patients should avoid it.

How to Optimize Methylation

Start by eating a healthy, organic, wholefoods based diet. Vastly reduce (or better yet eliminate) sugar, alcohol, packaged foods and any foods with pesticides on it – as they put stress on the methylation cycle. Folate is absolutely essential for methylation and you should increase your dietary intake with folate-rich foods, such as: raw, leafy greens; asparagus, broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, okra, citrus fruits, avocados, beans and legumes.

Be sure to get at least 8 hours of high quality, restorative sleep nightly, and practice stress reduction techniques such as yoga, meditation, deep breathing, walking, getting out in nature, and/or listening to music. Certain supplements can also help, and both 5-methyltetrafolate (the natural form of folic acid) and methylcobalamin (natural B12) promote methylation by replacing depleted methyl groups. SAMe, glutathione, methylcobalamin, trimethylglycine and anything that has ‘methyl’ as part of its name can also help. Finally, DIM and I3C (both of which are found in EstroBlock) are particularly beneficial ingredients that not only help with methylation, but also help to balance hormones.

*If you have a chronic disease you should consult with an epigenetic, methylation, or biochemistry expert, in order to restore proper methylation. One site that is highly recommended for this process is: https:// xrmd.com/
